The Amish are stereotypically recognized for their barn-building, buggy-driving, and electric fireplace manufacturing - wait, Electric Fireplace manufacturing? How does a community best known for shying away from modern conveniences manufacture a product that is both modern and ultra-convenient? The Amish Electric Fireplace has become so popular, in fact, that the electric fireplace industry leader, ClassicFlame, has introduced their own version of the Amish Fireplace called the Strasburg.
I did a little research about the Amish because I had some questions that many of our customers will probably ask when they call, such as: The Amish don't have electricity why would they make a product that relies on electricity? They don't have phones either, who will I call when I need to get in touch with technical support? What in the world is so great about an Electric Fireplace with wheels anyway?
When I searched Google for Amish Fireplaces, most of the search results came up with the ad for Heat Surge I'm sure you are familiar with. The ad claims if you call within 48 hours you will receive up to 2 Amish-made mantels with the purchase of the Electric Insert. Just as many search results were from forums or blogs telling consumers to beware of long customer service waits, hidden shipping charges, and up to a 6 week wait before their "free" Electric Fireplace was delivered. I found an interesting discussion at www.roadfood.com forums. However, I did not find any information regarding why the Amish decided to manufacture mantels for Electric Fireplace Inserts. My most educated guess would be that they are skilled woodsmen capable of making fireplace mantels, and found a supplier/distributor of electric fireplace inserts willing to go into business with them. Because Amish communities do not have electric power lines, or electricity in the home I don't think they use their own product, but the rest of America has jumped on the Amish Fireplace buggy - I mean bandwagon.
The Amish Fireplaces we have available at www.electricfireplacesdirect.com are manufactured by a industry leader. ClassicFlame is to electric fireplaces as Lexus is to luxury vehicles. ClassicFlame offers a 10-year warranty and exceptional technical support. You won't have to worry about a shortage and not receiving your new fireplace until after the colder months - ClassicFlame has plenty in stock.
The Amish-Style Electric Fireplace is so great because it provides supplemental heat to any room in your home. If your home is like mine and heated with gas, you know how expensive it is to heat in the winter (yes, even in Alabama!) Let's say in the evenings your family typically congregates in one main room in your home, you can place your Electric Fireplace in that room and turn down the thermostat. We call this zone heating. An Electric Fireplace does not produce enough heat to be a main heat source, but it will provide plenty of supplemental heat for up to 400 sq. ft. Because the Amish Fireplace is on wheels, you can move it into any room. Why crank up the main thermostat to heat rooms you aren't using?
I think this entry is long enough! Tomorrow I have a great story about making yard sale signs for our warehouse sale this Saturday. Note to self - do not wear heels when trying to stick signs in the ground on a major highway!
That's the Plug-In,
Michele
